How reliable is WatchPAT?

Published studies have shown over 90% concordance (agreement) with in-lab polysomnography studies that have been reviewed and scored by a certified sleep technician. WatchPAT is the #1 home sleep test in the US and is used by most major health systems. 

Will insurance cover treatments (such as CPAP) based on these results?

WatchPAT is FDA approved for 12+. If the provider or patient is looking to obtain insurance coverage for treatment based on the results of this study, we recommend contacting your insurance provider prior to completing the test to determine coverage. Clinical visit notes that prompted the order for the study may be needed if future treatment is desired based on this study.

Can this be submitted to insurance?

SleepSight is designed to simplify & speed the process for sleep apnea screening and diagnosis. As such, we choose to bypass insurance and offer this service as a discounted cash-pay option. A typical in-lab study is billed at $1,500 - $3,000 (to insurance). In many cases patients end up paying a significant portion of this charge. Regardless of insurance coverage, the costs incurred from a traditional in-lab study, plus the additional expenses related to time off work and travel, will be significantly higher than a home sleep study through SleepSight.

We recommend patients submit the charge from SleepSight to their insurance for reimbursement. However, we cannot guarantee coverage.

Can patients use their HSA for this service?

HSA’s generally cover sleep related testing. We recommend patients confirm coverage with their HSA ahead of time if they’d like to guarantee payment coverage through their HSA.

Can this service be used as a screening tool to determine if an overnight in-lab study is needed?

Yes, coupled with the standard adolescent sleep questionnaire, this is an ideal us of this technology.
